Raj Thackeray’s men are playing spoilsport again. This time around the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) has decided to disrupt the screening of Shah Rukh Khan’s new release Billu.
Over 500 MNS workers protested outside Kalpana theatre at Kurla demanding the deletion of the song Marjani Marjani from the screenings of Shah Rukh Khan’s latest film Billu. The workers have decided to take up cudgels on behalf of the entire Muslim universe and are objecting to the use of certain words in the song featuring Khan and Kareena Kapoor.
“We are fighting for the rights of Muslims all over the world. The song has hurt the sentiments of Muslims who truly believe in Prophet Mohammed,” says Chintoo Sheikh, Secretary MNS Mahtuk Sena.
The party workers first approached officials from Kurla police station and placed their demands before them, prior to which they wrote letters to the censor board, Irrfan Khan, Shahrukh Khan and various police stations across the city. The fact that SRK could not make time to meet the MNS workers before his surgery has made matters worse for the film.
The workers have issued a three-day ultimatum to the production asking them to withdraw the song from theatre screenings all over India. The workers were waiting for the actor to come back from London and hold talks with him regarding the issue. “We have spoken to the actor and are hoping that the song will be withdrawn from theatres across the country by evening,” informs Sheikh.
According to the workers, the words 'rab ke hazoor mein kasmein bhi khaali li, duniya ki oni boni kasmein nibhadi' insult the works of Prophet Mohammed, the messenger of god. “How can they undermine the work of Mohammed by calling the world a small place,” says Sheikh.

The party obviously wasn’t feeling offended by the song while it was being heavily promoted on leading channels months before the film’s release. The film, which released on Friday 13, has been running into controversy for a while now, starting from hair dressing salons across Mumbai protesting against the usage of the word ‘Barber’ to Islamic groups expressing their displeasure against the film’s Marjani song . It seems SRK’s woes don’t seem to end, be it miscreants throwing bottles with inflammable substances in it to protestors, he has more than his fair share of troubles apart from an ailing shoulder.
